MASSIVEGOOD: Travelport Commits to Improving the Lives of Many

Travelport is joining the travel and tourism industry and major health organisations in support of a new and ambitious global initiative, MASSIVEGOOD. Created by the Millennium Foundation for Innovative Finance for Health, MASSIVEGOOD allows travellers to give a micro-contribution each time they purchase travel services.

Donations will help fight HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other devastating illnesses in developing countries. Micro-contributions by travellers – as little $2, £2 or €2 – have the potential to raise up to $1 billion over the next four years.

How is Travelport supporting the cause?

We’re introducing contribution mechanisms within our Galileo™ and Worldspan™ global distribution systems (GDS). The functionality allows travel agents to easily process traveller donations each time they book a trip. The Millennium Foundation is launching MASSIVEGOOD during the first half of 2010 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Spain. Travelport is supporting MASSIVEGOOD in these countries, as well as The Foundation’s expansion into additional countries over time.
