Bates Turpen

Bates Turpen joined Travelport in 2018 as the Chief Information Officer

Bates is responsible for application development of shared services, global operations, networks, security, architecture and enterprise quality & assurance. He brings global results as a transformational executive leader, high performing team builder and strategist.

Prior to joining Travelport, Bates held numerous technical and senior management roles at Intercontinental Hotel Group, Staples and First Data. He has over twenty years of escalating scope and experience in IT, achieving business-oriented results through application development, call center solutions, security and operations. Within these roles, he has shown to be an effective executive partner providing thought leadership on high transaction applications, business process redesign, global information security and fiscal stewardship.

Bates holds a bachelor’s in Engineering Technology from Memphis State University and resides in Atlanta, GA. He has also completed the Harvard Business School Strategic Leadership Program. He has three children and enjoys playing golf when he is outside of the office.
